How Does HughesNet Business Internet with VPN Work?

Using broadband satellite technology, HughesNet Business Internet with VPN gives you a super-fast, always-on Internet connection secured via state-of-the-art VPN technology. Whether you need reliable broadband access for Internet access, Web-based intranet, point-of-sale (POS) or back-office applications, HughesNet Business Internet with VPN delivers your applications efficiently and securely.

The HughesNet Business Internet with VPN solution is delivered using a standard HughesNet Business Internet plan in concert with a HughesNet-certified VPN appliance. The HughesNet-certified VPN appliance is specifically designed to secure the Internet connection while providing the best performance possible over a broadband satellite connection. Unlike other solutions, HughesNet Business Internet with VPN maintains the speeds of the broadband satellite connection. Now, you can enjoy the highest speeds HughesNet broadband access can offer—securely.

Adhering to industry-standard encryption, HughesNet Business Internet with VPN doesn’t require you to replace your existing VPN networking infrastructure and investment.

The solution works seamlessly with your existing VPN solution, so that now, you can easily extend your secure network to those hard-to-reach remote locations.

HughesNet service plans include speeds of up to 1 Mbps upstream and 3 Mbps downstream. Each remote branch location requires one of the HughesNet Business Internet plans (BI-100 to BI-600) with at least one static public IP address. The host location must have a broadband Internet connection with a public IP address and one HughesNet-certified VPN appliance. One VPN appliance at the host location can support up to 30 remote branch office VPN appliances. The host location can be deployed with any broadband connection (DSL, cable, or T1) from the broadband provider of your choice and does not require a HughesNet Business Internet satellite service plan.

For those branch office locations requiring satellite service, a HughesNet-certified installer will connect the HN9000 satellite modem to your remote LAN and connect it to a satellite dish (antenna), typically mounted on the roof of your commercial building. The satellite dish sends and receives information and delivers it to your computers almost instantly.

A HughesNet-certified VPN appliance will be installed at your headquarters location and at each branch office location. The VPN appliance originates and terminates the VPN connection between your headquarters and branch office locations. The VPN appliance not only establishes VPN connections, but is a fully functioning router and acts as a firewall for added security.
